Effective Affirmations Can Change Your Life

Golden Water
Affirmations are one of most powerful self-help tools using them often can open up a world of opportunity to you and help you take control of many aspects of your life.

What is an affirmation? An Affirmation is a form of mental programming that is based on the repetition of a strong positive statement that evokes a positive emotional reaction in an individual. This statement is a command to your subconscious mind in order to manifest specific results in your life.

When you think of affirmations remember: Your thoughts create your life.” This is a Universal Law. You just have to keep in mind that if your thoughts create your life, then who controls of your thoughts? You. Therefore, you control your life.

Affirmations are not just meaningless words you repeat in the hopes that it will create change. Affirmations work when the words evoke some kind of positive or negative reaction from you.

Repeating negative thoughts constantly is also a form of affirmation, sadly they are the most effective ones because for some reason we tend replay all the bad things that happen to us over and over in our thoughts and those thoughts tend to be very emotionally charged. Constantly thinking of negative thougths only reinforce those negative events, giving them power and often manifesting those same events in your life again. So be careful, keep the past in the past: especially the bad memories.

Effective Affirmations
Like I stated above the most effective affirmations are those that you feel some kind of emotional response to. So you have to craft your affirmations carefully, repeat them often and tweak them until they evoke some kind of positive emotional response in you.

Crafting Affirmations

  • Ask yourself: What do I need the affirmation for? What do I want to manifest in my life?

  • Find an affirmation that resonates with you. You can create one or find one in your inspirational or motivational reading material. Make sure that the words mean something to you. Make sure they are words you like, words you can recite the moment you wake up in the morning and words that symbolize exactly what you want.

  • The affirmation must be positive and in present tense, that is your craft the affirmation like the events are currently happening in your life. This is the most important aspect of affirmation, because you want to create those changes now.

  • Write your affirmation on card and memorize them.

  • Check to see if the affirmation resonates with you by repeating them over and over. If it doesn’t evoke an emotion then you need to go back to the drawing board.

  • Once you love your affirmation, then repeat them at any chance you get.
  • In addition to manifesting affirmations can be used to quite the mind, focus, meditate, and my favorite, ward off negative thoughts.

Taking control of your negative thoughts: I always recommend creating an affirmation to combat that one or multiple negative thoughts you can never seem to get out of your head. Once you have your affirmation, the moment you realize you are thinking negative thoughts or thinking of that negative event, stop and start repeating your affirmation, in time, the thought will be gone before you done reciting the affirmation.

Using affirmations to focus on what you want: A lot of the time we find ourselves thinking of things we don’t want, this by the way is another form of affirmation because you tend to manifest the things you don’t want. Affirmations can be used as proactive tool to help you create a positive outcome.

The most effective affirmations I have is the one I attached to a landmark I love, the Golden Gate Bridge. I happen to love architecture thinking of it creates an emotional and physical response (smiles, joy, goosebumps, happiness, love, awe and more) in me. Some people love pets, flowers, shoes, cars, I love buildings and trees. So I stick a picture of the structure of my adoration on my front door and repeat the affirmation attached to it every time I go out or walk past the door.

    Here is how it works:
I have a general affirmation I use to quite my mind, it is a prayer what things I want in life. I got the affirmation from my favorite author Florence Scovel Shinn. — I may have tweaked the affirmation around over the years to find the one that works best for me.

It goes: I step through my Golden Gates of abundance, I now have the health, wealth, perfect self express and love that is mine by Divine Right.

I add “Mine by Divine Right” to all affirmations that I use when asking for something because I don’t want anyone else affected negatively when I get what I want. I also do that because sometimes we get things that are not meant to be ours, like relationships, things, that we end up losing, I don’t want any of that in my life anymore. Remember “be careful what you ask for you always get it.”

I find myself repeating this affirmation anytime I see the Golden Gate Bridge in magazines, on TV, movies, and sometimes whenever I see any bridge. Can you imagine what it feels like repeating this affirmation when driving across the Golden Gate Bridge? I can truly say this one changed my life. It is simple, I repeat it often, it evokes an emotion and I see the results in my life and I am sure you will to.

Have fun create your effective affirmations and please feel free to share your results or thoughts with me.

    Good Luck,
