Charles F. Haanel was an author, a businessman and a self-made millionaire.

Charles F. Haanel was born May 22, 1866, in Ann Arbor Michigan. He and his family moved to St. Louis when he was young. He began his career in St. Louis, Missouri as an office boy for the National Enameling & Stamping Company, where he worked for fifteen years before going into business for himself. he later founded one of the largest conglomerates of his time, the Continental Commercial Company, he was a very successful businessman. He married twice (widowed by first wife) and had three children, a son and two daughters.

He wrote several books which were published by Psychology Publishing in St. Louis and by his Master Key Institute in New York. In addition to his most famous book, The Master Key System which he wrote in 1912, Charles F. Haanel also wrote:

Charles F. Haanel wrote about principles and systems he used to gain success in his life.
The book, The Master Key System is his most famous work it sold over 200,000 copies by 1933. In a 24 part weekly program, The Master Key System talks about the principles, laws and methods to attain success in all aspects of life as experienced by Charles Haanel himself.

Charles F. Haanel died in 1949 and is buried in Bellafontaine Cemetery, St. Louis.
