Feng Shui - What You Should Know Before You Practice
Posted on March 3, 2007
Like everything in life you need to know the rules before you can act successfully. Here is a list of things you need to know or do before you practice Feng Shui. That means, you should do this before applying any Feng Shui cures to your home, office or car.
- Pick a school. There are several schools of Feng Shui that practice Feng Shui in different ways. You have to find the one that works best for you. I practice the Black Hat Sect of Feng Shui because it is easy and all I need is a bagua, instead of a compass. (I can not tell north from south if I was looking at a compass.) This school works very well for me and it was quite easy to learn. See Feng Shui Study for more information on the different schools.
- Read and understand what Feng Shui is. This goes without saying, but you should know what you are doing before you practice Feng Shui because if you do the wrong thing it might cause more damage.
- Always set intentions before doing a Feng Shui cure. If you are looking for love, write down specific information on what you are looking for in a partner, think about what your life will be like with your partner. Think of those intentions and visualize them when you are doing the cure itself and very often after the cure.
- Set goals in different areas of your life. It is important that you set specific goals in different areas of your life. This will help you put your life in balance. The bagua has 9 areas of life, you probably have two or three areas you need to work on.
- When you do a Feng Shui cure always test the cure for a few days to make sure the cure is beneficial to you and not causing problems in other areas of your home. I shared an apartment with my sister that had a long hallway. I placed a crystal in the hallway hoping to diffuse the energy shooting down the hallway from the large windows front of the house. Within days of putting up the crystal all my sister and I did was argue, I was lucky enough to remember cure with the crystal and took it down and the arguing stopped. So watch out for subtle changes in your home after doing a cure and make sure they are positive and what you want.
- Make sure you use objects and colors that you like. If you hate the color pink do not paint your entire bedroom pink if you are working on a love cure, this might just be counter productive. You might add a sculpture of a loving couple to the love section of your bedroom.
- Use Feng Shui cures in moderation. If you have too many cures at the same time you may not be able to tell which one is working and which one is not. Trying doing one cure for one life aspect at a time so you can gauge the success of that cure, if it is working within a few days you can do something else.
Keep these tips in mind when you practice Feng Shui and you are on the road to living the life of your dreams.
