You simply have to dismiss the thoughts and memories when they come and substitute them with more positive thoughts and memories. I agree that starting over is the best thing to do, but I find that the hardest part is letting go off the past - obviously bad memories, habits, and beliefs are so deep in us it will be hard to just let go.
