You have the right to be rich – The Science of Getting Rich Workbook - Chapter One - Part One
See introduction to the Science of Getting Rich Series
Today I am starting the chapter summary series of the Science of Getting Rich. It is a set of Blogs
that review the most important principles and practical steps of each chapter of the Science of Getting Rich Workbook. (See the intro post). Each post will give you an overview of the most important teachings of the Science of Getting Rich and each post will have action steps for you to take to start living the certain way today.
As a student of the work, my life has changed exponentially in the few months I have been working with this material and I feel like I am yet to explore the science fully. I have taken what I believe is the most profound information from each chapter and expressed my thoughts on the teachings as support or as evidence of the power of the work of Wallace D Wattles.
Chapter One - You Have the Right to Be Rich
“The fact remains that it is not possible to live a really complete or successful life unless one has money.”
Even while creating the Science of Getting Rich Workbook, I struggled with the word: Rich. My absolute fascination with Wallace Wattles’ work is that is gives you the tools to build a solid foundation and gives you practical steps to use the tools and it turns you in to an effective production machine. Most people do not mind the word “rich”, why should they, we should all aspire to be rich. I had to find a way to deal with my baggage with the word “rich” so I tend to immediate associate it with the word “Wealth” same thing, different response, by me that is. What is wealth to me: Abundance, health, love, helping other, adding value and more.
The first chapter of Science of Getting Rich is about you accepting the fact that you have the right to be rich. We live in abundant universe which gives every man, woman and child the right to be rich. It is true that to live completely you need to have money, you need money to eat, you need money for housing and you need money to learn the trade or to get the tools of the trade you choose to do. The actual first step to getting rich is dealing with whatever issues you have with money. You most be okay with the fact that living fully and free from worry requires to a large extent your having money. The one big thing you will learn as the chapter go on is that with the Science of Getting Rich book is about creating your ideal life from where you are right now. The real focus of the book is not money; it is living the Certain Way, being efficient, taking effective action and the results of your effort.
“The purpose of Nature is the advancement and development of life and every man should have all that can contribute to the power, elegance, beauty, and richness of life to be content with less is sinful.
Every person naturally wants to become all that they are capable of becoming this desire to realize innate possibilities is inherent in human nature; we cannot help wanting to be all that we can be.
The object of all life is development and everything that lives has an inalienable right to achieve all it is capable of attaining. Man’s right to life means his right to have the free and unrestricted use of all the things that may be necessary for his fullest mental, spiritual, and physical development.”
There is a great example analogy about growth in Science of Getting Rich, everything in nature comes into being wanting to be the best it can be. The acorn doesn’t decided to be a mediocre tree. Everything on earth is created with the purpose of advancement. We are a part of nature so our purpose there for is advancement.
I love the statement “We cannot help wanting to be all that we can be.” I believe this is the reason a large majority of us are not content with our lives, we intrinsically know that we are not doing all we can do. This statement alone is why many of us search the internet looking for answers. Wallace Wattles gives the answers and has created one of the most famous personal development works in the process.

I think one of the biggest (if not the biggest) obstacles to wealth is not being able to accept that you deserve to be wealthy. Great post.
Jonathan, I have to agree with you, it is the biggest obstacle, I had issues with the word “Rich” which made me realize that I apparently had an issue. It was a big step for me and I still find myself working on accepting it everyday. Thanks for stopping by.
