You have the right to be rich – The Science of Getting Rich Workbook - Chapter One - Part One
See introduction to the Science of Getting Rich Series

A man’s highest happiness is found in the bestowal of benefits on those he loves. Love finds its most natural and spontaneous expression in giving.

To live fully in soul, you must have love; and love is denied expression by poverty.

• This statement is so profound I cannot help but think of my family and friends whenever I read it. “Love is denied expression by poverty.” I am not saying that the poor cannot love, you love at every stage and any place you find yourself in life. My best friend used to tell me a story, growing up they did not have a lot of money but lived close to a flea market. Her parents would take her and her sibling to the market and they could buy whatever they wanted back then you spend two dollars at a flea market you may as well be spending $50 today. Nevertheless, they didn’t have a lot of money but they were never denied anything. Sorry to say but we live in a society where you express your love by doing, “we show people we love them.”

• We all understand that money is not love, but to express it you need money, you need money to make a phone call, you need money to write a letter and if you live under the same roof, well, you need money for shelter.

• Below is a journal entry I made after reading chapter 1, the first part is a thought that came to mind and the second part is a question that seem to be the natural follow up to the thought…

Some time ago reading the Science of Getting Rich…

Thought: Hmmmmm :)
The statement you need money to… You need money to… YOU NEED MONEY… keeps replaying in my head as I go through the first chapter of the Science of Getting Rich. Isn’t that why I am reading this book? I want to know. By the way, I DO NEED MONEY. I need to pay my bills and who does, but that is not what is important to me right now. What is most glaring about the first chapter is not that I need money but how much I am not doing because I don’t have the money. I don’t have time to workout, I work too hard and too long to spend time with my family, I can’t even take two minutes to meditate. I am supposed to be living not getting through life.

Question: Why do I want to be rich?

I want to do so much for myself and my family. I want to be with my family fully and not think about the job I hate or thinking about how much a day out with family will cost me when I should be enjoying their company. I want to be free of these limits. Yes, I can entertain them for free but even free requires some money. I want to be better educated, as in; I want to go to school to learn more skills. I am hungry for someone to teach me more, I want to learn computer programs, I love computers, I want to learn to write better, I want to learn to teach people. However, I make do with the library (God bless the Library system in San Francisco) and the internet (God, I Love the Internet). I want to spend time meditating and know what it is to work on enlightenment. I want to spend the first 5 minutes of meditation on quieting my mind from worry about what needs to be done, when and how. I just want to be. I want to see the world. I need money for that. SO YES, I CAN JUSTIFY MY NEED TO BE RICH, I simply want to live a better life. End of chapter one and I am okay with being rich, next.

Action Step: (By the way, you don’t have to share your action steps with me, but I will answer questions if you have any.)

• Why do you want to be Rich?

See you next chapter…

I want to be rich to support my interests. I want my blog to be successful and creating wealth from the concept proves that I am helping others become more successful.

I really don’t want money for fancy boats and cars. I think they are a waste of time. I want money to improve other people’s lives.

    Karl,
I have to agree with you, I find myself feeling stronger about my choices and myself when I know that I am working to create wealth to improve people lives, as for the boat, well i am scared of water and all I need, no want is a red prius.

Thank you Karl, thanks for adding value.
