“No thought of form can be impressed upon Original Substance without causing the creation of the form.”

The first and most important principle in the Science of Getting Rich is the Power of Thought. The basis of personal development and growth is using the power of your thoughts to create your life. Chapter four in the Science of Getting Rich Workbook gives you an overview of how the creation process works.

The crux of the Science of Getting Rich is based in this chapter, I find myself constantly dissecting this chapter to truly understand what Wallace Wattles’ idea of the thought creation process is. Here he talks about the creation of the universe using the power of thought. As I mentioned in the “What is Original Substance?” post (Chapter three Science of Getting Rich Workbook), I believe that Original Substance is the stuff God uses to create. In this paragraph and throughout the book, the Original Substance is called many things: formless substance, formless stuff, thinking stuff, thinking substance, the formless and other variation. This decision has caused readers some confusing but if you put the word in context, you will find them all to be the same thing.

“Thought is the only power that can produce tangible riches from the Original Substance. The stuff from which all things are made is a substance that thinks, and the thought of a form in this substance produces the form. Original Substance moves according to thoughts, every form and process you see in nature is the visible expression of a thought in Original Substance.”

• Original Substance creates your thoughts. It is a thinking substance that will operate independent of you if you do not specify what you want. I wanted to mention this before you continue reading, I will come to the point I am trying to make after the next paragraph.

“Thinking the form of a slow growing oak tree, it moves accordingly, and produces the tree, though centuries may be required to do the work. In creating, the Formless Substance seems to move according to the lines of motion it has established. The thought of an oak tree does not cause the instant formation of a full-grown tree, but it does start in motion the forces, which will produce the tree, along established lines of growth.”

• The Original Substance thinks. It thinks the oak tree should take X number of years to grow and so it take the oak tree X numbers of years to grow. What about us? My theory is that, we put out random thoughts and the Original Substance establishes the “lines of motion” it thinks we should be going in and that is how our lives turn out.
• According to the Law of Attraction, negative or positive thoughts are created according to the level of emotion you apply to it. If we do not control our thoughts or clearly define what we want, we leave the gaps to be filled in by the original substance. It would simply take our most dominant thoughts and use them to direct our live.
• This I believe explains why negative thoughts (powerful negative emotions like hate) are much easier to manifest “allegedly” than positive thoughts. The Original Substance takes what you are most emotional about and uses it to fill in the gaps.
• This statement provides evidence for the case against not setting specific goals. If you are specific about what you want, focus on those images, the Original Substance has something to work with and will create exactly what you want.

• How Original Substance thinks. You think, “I want a house.” If you thought this request in a Certain Way and the Original Substance decides to create it for you, then the process would go like this…

“Every thought of form, held in Thinking Substance, causes the creation of the form. The thought of a house of a certain construction, if it were impressed upon Formless Substance, might not cause the instant formation, of the house, but it would cause the turning of creative energies already working in trade and commerce into such channels as to result in the speedy building of the house.”

• Original Substance: “She wants a house and she feels the need to get a better paying job first, okay.” Two years later, you get a better paying job and you buy your house.
• Original Substance: “She wants a house and she is feeling lucky.” Next day, you turn on your computer, find a context to win a house, enter, three months later someone shows up at your door and you own a new house.
• Original Substance: “She wants a house that costs $200,000, she has the down payment, wants to pay $x a month mortgage, the house should be this type of house, in this neighborhood and great parking.” That is what she got.

“If there were no existing channels through which the creative energy could work, then the house would be formed directly from Primal Substance, without waiting for the slow processes of the organic and inorganic world.”

• If what you want does not exist or if the Original Substance does not have an “established line of motion” for the request, then it will bring said item into exist immediately.
• This might just be the reason I can manifest paperclips and rubber bands in my purse almost instantly.
• But seriously, there are two great things we can take away from this section: one is to be specific with your requests so you don’t get whatever the Original Substance thinks you should get. The second is figure out a way to create your needs directly from the Primal Substance and bypass the “established lines of motion” or the crazy, self-destructive thoughts in your head.

No thought of form can be impressed upon Original Substance without causing the creation of the form.

It’s so important to be conscious of the thoughts we have… they are incredibly powerful. And even though we are becoming more aware of the power thoughts have in creating a reality, many have trouble controlling our thoughts and disciplining ourselves to turn negative and self limiting thoughts into more positive and empowering thoughts.

Thanks for your thoughts on this essential topic!

Thanks for stopping by Jeanne, you are spot on, about the importance of being conscious of the thoughts we have. A friend and I were having a conversation yesterday about how many people on earth are doing what they love. We came up with about 1% can you imagine what the world would look like if we could all tap into and use the power of thought positively.

    Thanks again,
