10 Ways to Practice Gratitude Daily

Gratitude is the simple act of counting your blessings. Sometimes those blessings seem hard to find, but you should start, even if it is the smallest thing you can think of, like waking up, before you know it you will have more and more to be grateful for in your life. Soon, you are beaming around town radiating gratitude. There is always a reason to be thankful.

Ways to Practice Gratitude

Wake Up to Gratitude

Start your day with gratitude. When you open your eyes in the morning, your first words should be "Thank you." You should start your day saying, thank you. Just do it, don’t argue, morning person or not, you woke up today, so say thank you.

I use the Gratitude Mantra from the moment I sit up in bed, put my slippers on, and start my day. I just repeat the words, "thank you."

Pay attention and try to notice things you can be grateful for throughout your day.

Gratitude Journal

A Gratitude Journal can be anything from a plain notebook to a fancy journal, or an actual Gratitude Journal. This practice is for those who love journaling as a self-help tool.

In your journal, you write a list of things you are grateful for each day. Most people journal first thing in the morning or at night before they go to sleep. There are no rules; I would suggest using your journal whenever the spirit moves you.

Gratitude Mantra

Saying the words, “Thank You,” as a mantra. I love this form of practicing gratitude, as I have found it to be the quickest way for me to change my mood. If I find myself stumbling out of my joy zone, as in, I noticed that my emotions have slipped out of optimal happiness mode. I just repeat the words, thank you, over and over, and in less than two minutes I am feeling better.

You can use the gratitude mantra as part of your daily meditation. Take five minutes to focus your mind, relax and repeat the words, "Thank You."

Gratitude Master List

Write a list of everything you are grateful for in your life today. Leave this list in your meditation area or write it in your journal. On the days you can't come up with anything to cheer yourself up, pull out your master list to be reminded of the blessings in your life. You can choose to visit this list daily; it is up to you.

Gratitude for What's to Come

By now you should have a list of the things you desire tucked away in your Levnow Binder, or you've written them in a journal somewhere. You can pull out that list and say thank you for all the items on the list as though you have already received them. You're sending a message to the Universe that you have faith your desires are on their way to you.

"I give thanks for my beautiful silver Tesla Model S." I am a California Girl, electric car all the way, saving the environment rocks!

Gratitude Rock

What is there not to love about a gratitude rock? You have a rock, small stone you found in a special place or a crystal you purchased. The key here is to stop and say thank you every time you see or touch the Gratitude Rock. I carry my Gratitude Rock I picked up on the Black Sand Beach in Maui in my pocket or purse. Or I just hold it in my hand and feel grateful for life. The black sand beach was a vision board item, and the thought of it energizes the gratitude molecules in my heart.

Gratitude Trigger

This one is special. With this practice, you pick anything, a place, or a person and say, "thank you" whenever you see or think of the individual or thing. It can be anything as mundane as saying thank you every time you pass a particular spot in your town, or whenever you see a rainbow (that one is easy we all say thank you when we see rainbows) or when you remember to look up at the sky or stop to smell the roses.

Fun Story on the Gratitude Trigger

My fun gratitude trigger moment started when there were only two Tesla cars in San Francisco. I decided that every time I saw a Tesla, I would say thank you. Before proclaiming this, I saw a Tesla, once a week at best. The day after I set the Tesla as a Gratitude Trigger, I found that someone on my walking route to work parked a beautiful red Tesla across from the coffee shop. The same car was there the next day, and every day after that the Tesla has been parked at the same spot. So, you can imagine that from that moment on, Monday to Friday, I had a reason to say, thank you every morning on my way to work.

Today, I still use the Tesla as a Gratitude Trigger, but there are so many Teslas in San Francisco right now, that I also use the Gratitude Trigger to give thanks for the abundance in the world today. Guess what is now located on said route to work? A TESLA SHOWROOM. I kid you not. My next update will be a picture of me driving my Tesla.

Gratitude to Others

Giving gratitude to people who do stuff for you couldn’t be more simple, just say THANK YOU. Say thank you when a family member does something for you, say thank you to the server at the restaurant, say thank you to the teller at that bank. Express your appreciation for anything anyone does for you, big or small. Let’s make the world a better place and say, Thank You.

You can take this up a notch and say a secret thank you to people who do nothing but walk by you. I love to say a secret thank you to people that make me smile randomly. Babies get me all the time. You can’t help but smile when you see a baby, and what could be better than sending a little "thank you" vibration their way.

Thank You Cards

At any given time I have three types of thank you cards, and I am not afraid to use them. Someone gives you a gift, send them a thank you card with a little note. Give thank you cards to your coworker for no other reason than they helped you solve a thing yesterday. Give your significant other or your kids a random thank you card for just being themselves. Spread the love.

Do you get where I am going with this gratitude thing? Just writing this post, I feel better. The Power of Gratitude will reveal itself to you in magnificent ways. Pick one of the many ways to practice gratitude and use it daily.
